Doll makeover

Once again, this poor old fella has had to have a make over.  Some dolls are just like that.  You can't get the 'look' right first off so from time to time, you play around with it to see what will work.  I think I'm getting there, but at the end of the day, not many people like buying men dolls, unless they look like Santa!  This might be Santa in the 'off season'!  LOL!

This doll has so much potential!  Not sure who's pattern it is, but Judy did it in a class and tonight we hav started giving it a makeover because she didn't like the face she had done.  She likes this one and has other plans for it too!  Let's see how it looks next week!
This si a Pattie Culea doll Judy had done in a class, which has recieved a makeover too.  With this one, we discussed the temperature of colour that doesn't work on this delightful little doll.  Even though it now looks good, the colours don't do it justice.  Judy's going to do it again.

Louise had a great time making her very first cloth doll at a new workshop this weekend.  It's called Old friends keep you sane!  Louise is a great sewer and applied her considerable skills to create this graceful Old Friend to stand with my two Old Friends.  We had a lot of interested spectators from quite a few different countries and languages.  Dolls speak all languages though and handled them with panache!  Louise did very well in such an environment and I was delighted that she took to dollmaking like a duck to water!

The Patroness of TOTE!

This is the Patroness of TOTE!  She is the manniquin I made a head for  and dressed to use as street advertising for The Oamaru Textile Exchange, where I sell my dolls and take workshops.

She needed a makeover after a harrowing summer in the heat. She sits on a pedestal and someone lifted her - and she fell off!

She still needs a bigger something at her throat, but that's coming soon. You can see by the door how tall she is.  I come up to her shoulder - if I'm lucky - and had an interesting time getting her in and out of my car!  Tourists love having their photo taken with her.

OCDC Group Pictures

Ralene has been busy constructing these lovely bright and cheerful giraffe's from her sales stash!  She is a regular member of our group, with our fabulous OCDC support person and friend Jean!

These lovlies are Adirann's creation from her Jill Maas workshop recently!  This is Lola and her dog.  The couch is a separate pattern  on Jills website.  This doll is so striking in reality.  A real work of art and Adriann'es skills are getting up there!  She has a real flair for colour.  I loved seeing these!

Old Friends keep you sane!

I've just finished writing up my new workshop pattern, 'Old friends keep you sane!'  I will initially be taking this workshop locally, but eventually, it may become an online workshop.  It has come together quite nicely and it's like two patterns in one and was twice the work , but so worth it!

Of course, with a name like old friends, you have to have at least two and there will be many possibilities with this pattern, so I am dying to see what people come up with when they try it out!

Would you believe, their heads are both the same shape?  The difference is in the needle sculpting.  This is one of the things  I hope to teach in the workshop.

He has more parts to him then she does.  Actually, she can't keep her hands off him!  They've been together such a long time of course..........a whole week!

I did make a few ladies but in the end decided to go with these two.

What do you think?

Old Friends Help Keep You Sane!

I know I have been quiet for a while, but I have been very busy lately making all sorts of patterns and dolls. It sure keeps me tied to the drawing board and the sewing room, but I am enjoying myself!
This is a pattern I am developing for a workshop called "Old friends help keep you sane!"  The workshop will be held in The Oamaru Textile Exchange, so it's in keeping with the place as TOTE, as it's called, is in the old part of town.
I am making an old gentleman friend to go with this old friend, so will post a pic when he's done.  What do you think?
