Grief and Compassionate expression

Trying to make emotional expressions.  

 The head and neck on this piece is all in one - something new I am trying. 

The neck ended up being too long. Will have to try again. Interestingly enough, the fabrics on both these heads is the same colour, but due to the colours I have used on the faces, and hair colour, one looks much lighter than the other. 

Facial Expression

My friend Mary shared some of her writing with me.  she was writing about despair and had painted this picture at the time, back in 1991.  I was struck by the deep painful shadows on the features and ws curious to see if I could in some way capture them.  

 Not the same, but the sense of grief is on the face.

This face is needlesculpted cotton, coloured with prismacolour pencils black, blue and crimson, with white fabric paint highlights, Micron Pen brown, and black Gel pen.
