OCDC Update

We've been very busy lately finishing off projects!

Heather - always with something on the go started off the show and tell with this version of Jill Maas's Maggie, holding one of her dogs! 

Next she pulled out this stunning version of Jill's Mermaid!  I just love the colours she's used and the eyelashes are so effective!  This is a great pattern and lovely to make up!

Here is Jo's gorgeous cuddly little bear she made at our workshop.  Real fur from an old fur coat.  So lovely to hold.

 This little cutie - not not Raelene, although she is cute - was made by Raelene, also from a Rabbit fur cape which is over 100 years old!  It was a real mission to make, with the skin tearing easily.  She made it for a friend in memory of her grandma, who belonged the cape.  It's so lusciously cuddly with it's big floppy legs and ears!  Raelene persevered and is pleased with it.  She did so well and made a very creative mess cutting it out I might add!  All worth it now though!

This little bunny was my effort, also made from real fur.  I think it is a free pattern from Soggybottom Bunny.  First real furry creature I've ever made.

This doll was created from various UFO bits I had lying around!  I wanted something to sit on the couch I'd made so I could put it up for sale.  Her hair is a combination of furs for a modern look and her dress is made up from scraps of beaded lace for someone's wedding gown.  The necklace beads were made by a friend who lives beading - lucky me!

  Lastly, Judy bought two heads she wanted to learn how to sculpt, so we did one each together!  They are from my latest pattern - Old Friends Keep you Sane.

July/August has been cold and extremely wet, so two classes were cancelled and only the odd one turning up to work on projects, but they've been staying in touch, telling me they're all working away at home on their projects.

Seems a bit creepy this time!  LOL!  I've been playing around with Steam Punk Softies - great fun to make, but takes longer than you would think!  My grandsons think they are way cool!

Joanne has had her pixie in body parts for weeks, and was pleased to finally get them together and have him actually stand!  Clothing will make all the difference.  She did all that without any instructions - pretty darn good for a new doll maker!

Now this cute face belongs to a Troll out of a magazine, that Jo has had on the go, also for months!  She learned a lot about sculpting making this!  Love the hair!  Could be a male or female!  The name Fabiano comes to mind!  LOL!  Can't wait to see him finished.

Meantime, I'm busy enough making patterns flat out, setting up for a new workshop with Fabric Addictions, starting soon.  I'm also making dolls for the Steam Punk Exhibition, making a dress for the Massive Mannequin - earlier posts, and preparing some bits and pieces for the Strawberry Fare in November. I'm on the hop, so to speak!

This pretty pink Ballerina is the second doll made by a new member of our group, Heather!  She is a Sarnie pattern and just looks lovely!  Heather has made  good job of her and her wee shoes look so cute!  Love those eyes!  AShe used Tibettan lambswool for the hair - good choice!

Adrianne got to go to a Jill Maas class lucky woman! Aren't they fabulous! Up close this is a magical set of dolls! Everyone commented on them! They would be fun to make!

Heather is making a Sarnie Ballerina - her second doll! She's made a great job of it too!

I made this spider called Miss Bruce!  One of my workers has a granddaughter age 2, scared of spiders.  My worker said , no- it's just Bruce!  Now every time she sees a spider, it's Bruce!  so I made her a girly one for fun!  LOL!

My newest creation - a Xmas Fairy!  Approximately 10 inchestall from the tip of her wired hat to the tips of her pointed feet!  This is a doll to dress up or dress down!  I'm trying to decide if she would make a pattern or not.  What do you think?  does she have appeal?

This is Heathers interpretation of my pattern - "Dance like no-one is watching!"  I'm really happy because it's her first doll!  Heather has taken to dollmaking like a duck to water and seems to be really enjoying it.  that doll looks so cool against the wall, but I think she's going to give it a stand.  Well done Heather!

Joanne is putting together an elf.  Not bad considering she is new to dollmaking, and also that pattern had no instructions with it!  She is quite talented in the way of sewing!  I'm dying to know what it will look like in the end!

Well here's the heads!  Would you believe they are the same doll head?  It's all in the sculpting and colouring!

Julie has many dolls on the go.  Some are UFO's that she is wanting to tackle - as well as doing the monthly mini workshop we do!

Olive is enjoying Jean's antics of avoiding the camera!  She is making a baby Troll and getting her head around how it all goes together!  nhext week she's going to Lacemaking!  She's very talented too!

Jean has been recuperating from a motorbile accident, so coming to OCDC keeps her connected - and she's a tremendous help to me, which is most important!  Here's Raelene showing us the beautiful book she made at scrapbooking!  I love it!  Raelene is multitalented too!  I'm so grateful to be surrounded by these women who share their skills and talents with me! 

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Started the year with a mini workshop, making faces!  Two new students, Joanne getting help from Adrianne who is an old hand now, and Jodie, who is doing everything all at once!  Not one, but two Trolls on the go, as well as the head she's making for the workshop!  Raelene is in the background sewing.  Luckily Joanne is sewing machine savvy and got the old machine to work properly tonight!  In the background are some completed dolls.
